WHAT
:
The Natural Park of Migliarino-San Rossore-Massaciuccoli extends over a territory
of circa 24.000 hectares in the Provinces of Pisa and Lucca, that interests the
municipalities of Pisa, Viareggio, San Giuliano Terme, Vecchiano and Massarosa;
in an area once inundated by marshlands and lagoons that have, with time, been covered
by debris brought by the river Serchio and more importantly by the river Arno.
Present in this territory are coastal regions enhanced by wonderful beaches, woodland
with beautiful pine groves, areas covered in holm oaks and mixed wooded zones. Marshlands
that are of special interest for their rare plants. Because of this varied habitat
the area is populated by a large variety of animals ( acquatic, reptilian, anphibious,
mammiferous, stilt birds), a true and proper enciclopedia under the open sky.
Along with Summer tourism, environmental tourism is a further resource in this territory.
Besides the possibility to visit this areas independently, the Park offers multiple
opportunities for holidays, nature holidays etc. Guided visits and suggestions for
environmental education for schools. Whichever way one decides to visit the park
the most varied interests can be satisfied thanks to guided visits along its most
suggestive itineraries. Farm holidays; holidays that combine seaside and sport,
history and art, leisure recreation including horse riding or visiting
the park by coach, birdwatching, along with holidays fully immersed in nature even
for the most passionate environmentalist.
We wish this to be a Park for everyone. Being in fact a prevalently flat land the
Park tries to propose solutions that allow it's territory to be enjoyed by as many
visitors as possibile, including structures and numerous routes for people with
handicaps and disabilities.
